They did make it easier. Next time, instead of macho brace give it power anklet.
The power items you can win at the battle tower also give EV's. Each one gives +4 to the gain of the EV it corresponds to after every battle the pokemon participates in. Since pokerus multiplies EV gain AFTER the items you are holding gives EVs then you would gain 10 EV's for each starly you kill this way, 12 for killing a staravia, and 14 for killing anything that gives +3 speed EV's.
The power items are:
power brace (atk)
Power lens (s.atk)
Power anklet (spd)
Power weight (HP)
Power band (s.def)
Power belt (def)
Any guide that doesn't mention these items is incomplete.
Also, you should probably edit the bit about the berries that lower EV's into the guide. I tend to use them a lot if I think I've screwed up and decide to change. ___ My playlist at Playlist.com -- so that you guys don't have to deal with my ska clogging the BC playlist any more.

Ummm. If you find the right place to EV train, it'll be a lot quicker.
Best places I've found (using Exp Share, and a stronger pokemon to kill):
Speed: Victory Road Surfing. 100% Golbats for 2 Speed EVs each. Want more? Put macho brace on your pokemon, go into battle, and switch to a stronger one. 4 EVs each.
HP: Outside Pal Park, Gastrodons and Skuntanks for 2 HP EVs each. HP EV Training is the hardest one, because you find a lot of other junk here too.
Attack: West of Pastoria City (rainy area) for Kricketunes and Bibarels. 2 Attack EV's each.
Sp Atk: The pool in the bottom right corner of Resort Area. Surf in there for 100% Golducks for 2 SP. Atk EVs each. Same tip as above for Speed EV's.
Sp Def: Surf Above Sunyshore City for Tentacruels. 2 Sp Def Each.
Defense: Iron Island Cave. Mostly Gravelers for 2 Def each, Onix for 1 Def each.
Edit: WeedTea, want to add this to the first post? ___ Strikers Code: 515 502 988 504 (Mii: Dan)
Brawl Code: 1590 4373 1255 (Danno) |

Maybe I'll put some but I have better ideas for others. Personally I think its better to EV Train by battling weak pokemon considering when EV Training weak pokemon you don't have to use Exp. Share and when EV Training stronger pokemon you will be able to defeat them quicker. ___ "I thought you might be worried, about the security...of your shit."

What's wrong with using exp share? It gets the same job done. (It doesn't split the EV's)
You have a stronger pokemon who can kill a lot faster... why not use it? ___ Strikers Code: 515 502 988 504 (Mii: Dan)

Holding Power items is much better. And with Pokerus it becomes awesomer. ___ "I thought you might be worried, about the security...of your shit."

Then hold the power item. Go in battle with the pokemon as first, then switch out.
You get 2 EV + 4 EV. Instead of 1 + 4
with Pokerus, you'd be getting 4 + 4.
With Macho Brace instead (with Pokerus), you'd be getting 8.

No, that's not how it works.
You'd get 2 EVs and with the Power Items you get 4 more. So it's be 2 + 4.
And with Pokerus it'd be: 2 x (2 + 4). Which would give you 12. ___ "I thought you might be worried, about the security...of your shit."
