khou: HOUSTON – The recent financial woes are taking their toll on businesses as well as people.
Just last month, the Bill Heard dealership announced it was closing here in Houston.
Now, there is word that Carmax on the Southwest Freeway may be laying off employees because of poor sales.
Members of the night shift met with management Tuesday night and were told to go home.
“Nobody was laid off. Nobody. They sent us home just to come back. We’re gonna have meetings and let us know what’s going on, but they tell us about the economy because it’s too bad right now,” said Jean Pierre who is a Carmax employee.
Company officials and employees will reportedly discuss the situation later today.
