Can't you just keep it at the bottom of the index? I was kinda disguntled to see it gone as well...

Not really, I don't know how many people are going to search Zerograv.
The more links you have on a page, in this example the links to the newest user and the links to the users who are online, the more divided your site's pagerank becomes. I could just unlink them, but I'd rather just make more use of the buddylist.
