Philly.com: St. Jude Medical Inc. of St. Paul, Minn., announced today that it has completed its $91 million acquisition of EP MedSystems Inc. of West Berlin, Camden County.
EP MedSystems develops, manufactures and markets a line of products used to treat people with heart-rhythm problems.
Plans for EP Medsystems' merger with St. Jude, which develops medical technology and services for such fields as cardiac rhythm management, atrial fibrillation and cardiology, were announced in April.
EP shareholders were offered $3 a share or shares of common stock. Also, St. Jude said, it will spend an additional $50 million in a stock buyback, offsetting the shares issued in the transaction.
EP MedSystems, which has 85 employees, would become part of St. Jude's Atrial Fibrillation division, St. Jude had said earlier. St. Jude has 12,000 employees worldwide.
