pittsburghlive: Tonight's fireworks show, which PIttsburgh Celebrates 250 organizers say will be the largest such display in Pittsburgh history, will be staged from 17 sites -- eight on barges in the rivers, five atop Downtown buildings and three at surprise locations.
The best places to view the show include the North Shore, Station Square and Mt. Washington. A section of Point State Park, from the Portal Bridge to the fountain, is closed for renovation. A small section of the North Shore alongside PNC Park near the Allegheny River is closed because it is a launch site.
Daytime events and evening fireworks display will make traveling through the region difficult.
