So Craig over at Swerve had a great post up today. Which I didn't see. But thanks to Ragamuffinsoul I saw it. This is too true, and also hits points on me.
A lukewarm worship leader:
-Prays more on stage than off stage.
-Is almost exclusively dependent on others songs to sing than writing songs for where their local church is at.
-Cares more about how many songs he or she is leading than the overall shape of the service.
-Is overly sensitive to criticism.
-Is jealous or critical of someone else that God is blessing.
-Spends little if any time in the Word preparing to lead His Church.
-Sings more songs on stage than in personal worship.
-Spends more time mimicking other worship leaders then being shaped into the worship leader they we made to be.
-Says things on stage that his or her family NEVER hear them say off stage.
Where did we cross the line and forget what we are truly doing. A lot of times we get s caught up in the moment, so caught up in saying the most profound things that we don't speak from the heart, we don't lead from the heart.
Many times Worship leaders get so caught up in being the next Chris Tomlin, and getting signed and leading thousands they forget the point. Let Chris Tomlin be Chris Tomlin and You be You. It's time for the local church to write songs for the local church. Write for what your dealing with, whats going on in your church, not for the next hit. Then God may take that song and millions hear, or he might only allow your congregation of 10 to hear. But through that more things will be radically changed, and people will be moved. Because instead of a bunch of buzz words together with music, you will have songs that shape and mold things.
