for one of my classes, this week's discussion topic instructed students to find an article that deals with a social problem that affects students and schools. so far, my classmates have come up with the following:
- chronic absenteeism (not so much a social problem as a symptom of one)
- obesity (i guess that's kind of a social problem, sort of)
- gay schools (and this is a social problem... how?)
- homeless children (hey, this one's good!)
- peanut butter. (seriously. peanut butter is a serious threat to education.)
and as though this wasn't all bad enough, because it's really hard for me not to make snarky comments pointing out that the vast majority of them really haven't even met the criteria for the assignment, i also received an email from the professor from my other class. it read:
