You don't need all that business. Just get the R4, or if you plan to get a microSD card bigger than 2GB, then get the R4 w/SDHC compatibility. ___

Shit these things are a helluvalot cheaper than when I first bought mine 2 or 3 years ago...
Anyway, Not too sure aboot the update service ('cause I don't know what that is), but ignore BigfatNigger on the 3 in 1. The EZ Flash 3 in 1 expansion is the best $10 I've ever spent. Having access to the entire DS and GBA library is sexy in itself.
Gameyeeeah.com is where I got my R4. I got my 3 in 1 from Deal Extreme. ___

I know this is like a thread necro, but it's still on the first page and the information is valid and important if anyone is looking, so...
I refer you to www.gbatemp.net. Lots of reviews and information about this scene. Since this topic isn't closed or anything, I figure it's OK to talk about these things.
The R4 at this time may be the most popular flash card name, but it is also fairly obsolete. Spend your money on a CycloDS or an Acekard 2 or something else... and the "R4 with SDHC support" is hardly legit despite retailers carrying them. DO NOT RISK BUYING THIS ONE. The R4 (support) team hasn't really been there for firmware updates, and the R4 itself was not officially updated to support SDHC... these are knockoffs! You're better off buying a newer, more supported card IMHO.
Personally, I've owned a M3 Simply for some years now, but I would upgrade to a CycloDS if it was on my priority list. |

Hell yeah, I love well-educated lurkers, hats off to you.
I originally chose the R4 just because of name recognition - everyone with a flashcart I knew had one, and kept singing its praises. However, the day mine arrived in the mail, I found out that the company that originally made the R4 was now defunct, and I was kind of like . I didn't come across any problems at first, everything ran fine. Eventually, though, the R4's original firmware was showing its age, and couldn't run anything newer. However, I found the YSMenu firmware that is available for the R4, and couldn't be happier. ___

Since Platinum is out and this is kind of important to the pokémanzers out there, I'd like to say this:
Knowing the competitive pokémon wi-fi scene, R4 is the only hacking device anyone uses since it has pokésav. I'm not sure if pokésav can run on the other hacking devices, but if you're looking for a good hacking device so that you can get your hands on an Arceus or whatever then R4's probably what you want. ___ My playlist at Playlist.com -- so that you guys don't have to deal with my ska clogging the BC playlist any more.

As long as the other flash carts use a .sav file, than you should be good. ___
