Sort of...

When you read that you might have thought it was a quiz type thing, but it's not...exactly... I need some help with a little project I'm working on. I need some help naming my latest creation...

I've spent about 2 hours today splicing MMBN sprites to make this guy...and now I can't come up with a good name for him. So, I need your help. I'm looking for some suggestions for his name. I have a few ideas, but I won't give them just yet as they might influence your thinking.

P.S. If you feel froggy and think you know your MMBN, try figuring out what sprites I used to create this guy. Hmm...that reminds me, I was gonna add one more thing, but it can wait.

Nobody has to read this for all I care. I just wanna get this off my chest...

As some of you know, I went to a prom tonight and I just got back. I'm still wearing my tux since I haven't even bothered to change. First thing I did when I got to my room was start my computer and get online to do this spill.

Anyhow, I feel horrible, awful, and another other negative feelings like that you can have. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't a bad night...not for me anyhow. The whole point of this spill is that I feel terrible because I don't think my date had a good time.

It was her senior prom and here I was being a lousy date. I didn't talk to many people that weren't in our group, I didn't dance...I was a horrible date and I know it. I could also tell that she wasn't having a good time either...which made me feel completely horrible. I don't care whether or not I had a good night. I wanted her to have a good night. It was a one time thing and I think I ruined it for her...

I told her several times that I was sorry. I tried as best I could to make the ride home better for her. I told her I was sorry that she didn't have a good time and I put my arm around her. She was tired so I let her lean against me and sleep. If she wasn't having a good night I might as well let her avoid it...

After the limo dropped us back off and I took her home (I told her I was sorry at least two more times at her door), I headed home...feeling horrible inside. I knew I had ruined it for her and I couldn't stand it. I wanted to cry, but I tried my best not to since I was driving. I decided instead that I would go to my church and sit on the steps and cry as much as I needed to...but when I got there...as much as I wanted to...I couldn't cry...it made me feel that much worse that I couldn't.

But at least this spill has been good for something...it did manage to get me crying and that's all I really wanted. No replies, no comments, no suggestions. I just needed a place to vent and let me feelings out... Cry

Yeah, I've seen this around other forums and thought, "What the heck, let's try it at the BC." So here is the what I hope will become the official post your desktop topic. You can either post a screenshot of your desktop with OS and everything or you can just post your wallpaper. For most a wallpaper would probably be sufficient, but if you have a sweet theme for your OS you might want to share that too.

Sonic the Hedgehog

We all know that Megaman is one of the most famous videogame characters of all time. He's up there with Mario, Sonic, and Pac-man. Now it seems that all of the old series are finished. The original died years ago, there is no word on the X series, Legends only had two installments, Megaman Zero ended with a bang, and my personal favorite, the Battle Network series has come to an "END."

But of course you can't count the Blue Bomber out just yet. He has two, count them, TWO games coming to the DS and one is already out in Japan and the other will be out by the end of the year. What are these two games? They are Megaman ZX and Megaman ZN (am I seeing double?).

My question is, which of these games are you interested in and why?

Personally, I'm more interested in ZX as you can probably guess from my avatar and signature. I don't really like the concept of Megaman ZN. The end of the network age, "Radio-Wave World," and an alien Megaman? Not to say I won't get it. I am a hardcore Megamaniac after all, but I'm less interested.

Any of you guys what House? The third season started tonight on FOX. It's a pretty cool show. It's about this doctor who is really rude to his patients and oftentimes has no proof for what he does and sometimes goes too far trying to treat his patients...he looked himself and his patient in an elevator once so he could look for a tick that was causing an allergic reaction.

Anyhow, last season he was shot and almost died. They fixed him up...better than he was before since they also fixed his bum leg while they were at it (he walked with a cane before). He's changed somehow though. He isn't the same as he used to be...and he apparently has a prescription drug problem.

Seems like a lot of the guys here have AIM, so maybe we should start a Nintendo WFC chat. I'll start one for now, and if you are on and can play WFC come to the chat and we can set up games of AC:WW, MK: DS, MP:H, Tetris, or Lost Magic.

The name will be "bcwfc." Hope to see you guys there...

This won't exactly fit perfectly in this forum since it's the WFC forum, but here is a program that lets you play GBA ROMs against people over the Internet. I thought you guys might like to play some GBA games online too. We could set up games here because there is absolutely no oppenent finding system. There are full instructions on the page and mulitple links to download the emulator from...hopefully one of them will work for you...

I was wondering what you guys thought about maybe setting up an internet radio station for the site. I know it's a tall order and I'm currently looking into exactly what we would need for this. So far it seems like it could be rather affordable and possibly free, but I'll need to talk more with Whadu and I'll need to do a lot more research before anything goes forward.

The main purpose of this thread is to see if any of you would be interested in Broken Radio and if you'd like to participate by becoming a DJ. The way I envision it is that we would stream a random playlist composed of a mix of a lot of our music. We'd have live shows at varying times throughout the day. Like I would have a live broadcast on Friday night called Broken Comics Live. In it I would like to have people call in via Skype and we can talk about the comics and people could talk directly to me about what they think and want to see. I'd also focus a lot on Sonic like the comics, games, and I'd focus on Sonic/SEGA music and maybe some other videogame music.

Whadu may have a broadcast on Saturday night that is all about the classic rock and general site discussion. We'd hopefully get enough people to do at least one broadcast a night. Heck, I might could even talk the writer for the Sonic Archie comics into an interview since I talk to him on a forum. If we get big enough we might could get even bigger people to grant us an interview.

Either way, this is only a pitch and nothing is even remotely confirmed and even still it could take months and even a year to get things going if we do stick with this. I would like to be the one to head this up if we can go forward and I plan to give it the same amount of dedication as I do Broken Comics should things go forward.

I'm feeling generous...and I finished the comic really early...so, I decided to give you guys a sneak peek of Monday's comic. It's the full comic, but only the forum gets to see it before Monday. It's the first of the last two comics in this storyline before the big 100th issue. Until that time, I'll be doing parodies of games and shows like Pokemon, Halo, House, Stargate, Star Trek, and maybe others.

Yeah, I'm headed to Myrtle Beach for the week. It's a mixed bag for me. I'm glad to get a vacation and to be going to the beach again, but I'll be away from my girlfriend for a while.

Simple game...you simply post a word that starts with the last letter of the previous post. It doesn't even have to be one word. It can be a whole sentence...although I wouldn't suggest writing your life's story... :?

Yep, after a grand total of 28 days, I'm finally putting up the 100th issue. No spoilers, but I just thought I'd make a thread to let everybody know since they probably forgot about the comic... :roll:

Or used to play Maple Story. I know a few of you did at one point as did I. I've recently gotten back into the game since I've got high-speed internet now. It ran before, but jumped and got somewhat annoying. I have to say that since I left they've added a bunch of new stuff. Several new worlds and such. I still don't like the fact that you have to spend REAL money to get the really cool stuff though...

How do you pronounce "pwn?" I've always thought of it as "pawn," but I heard someone the other day say it as "pown" as in p + own. I was wondering how you guys read it.

That's right, they took the SNES game, Megaman 7, and converted it into an 8-bit NES game! It's odd and most people are like "That's a downgrade...THAT SUCKS!" But it's really pretty cool. I've played through the game to the final boss (which still kicks my ass in 8-bit) and it's as good or better than the original game.

It plays the same as any Megaman as far as charging and sliding are concerned.

Now many of us, including myself, were guessing for a $200 price tag for the Wii. Needless to say, when I first saw "Wii will sell for $250" I was a bit ticked off. I thought "But that's like $50 less than the 360 core?" But then I saw all the extras that will come with the Wii. Some of you may not be aware of some of this stuff, so I'll give you a recap of what comes with the Wii out of the box...

Long story short, the Wii is gonna be a steal with this package.

Firefox likely won't automatically ask you to install the theme. It will likely save as a JAR file. Simply drag that file into the themes window and Firefox will ask you if you want to install and then Firefox will restart. You'll then need to change the theme and restart again.

Make sure to give me plenty of feedback. It's a generally working theme, but there are a few minor tweaks I need to make before I try and get it put on the official site.

I was just wondering if we had any Stargate fans. Me, I've seen the movie, but I prefer the series(Stargate SG-1) myself...particularly the first seven seasons. Once General Hammond left and O'Neil was promoted to general, it really seemed to lose its edge. Once Jack stopped going through the gate it really killed the series...literally as things stand now...

But there is a good note...Stargate Atlantis! :D Yeah, it's a spin-off, but it's a good spin-off. The cast seems great in my opinion. They all seem to get along the way they should and yet they seem to be friends moreso than the original cast. Shepherd and McKay for instance. They often give each other a hard time, but they obviously are good friends.

McKay in particular seems to keep the show interesting. Like in a recent episode he is shot in the butt with an arrow. The first thing he yells is, "That did NOT just happen!" Laughed my ass off at the time. Then they get him back to base and drug him up to kill the pain where the doctor tells him he has an arrow in his "gluteus maximus." He then proceeds to say, "Gluteus maximus? Gluteus maximus?" and in a moment of clarity through the drugs he says, "That's my ASS!" Very funny. Laugh

Anybody else here have the newest version of AIM? If so, do you have a WeeMee too? I do...but nobody else seems to have it so it's not much fun...

Yes, that's right, I'm considering reviving the comic after nearly four months of being completely stopped and another two months of delaying hoping for an artist. Well, I've still not found an artist, but I've come up with a plan to change things so I can still do the comic with sprites, but I can still go back and do my originally planned story should I get an artist.

The main point of this thread is to get people's opinions on whether I should start it back up again. If nobody really wants it, then I don't think I'd spend the time. Another factor in the voting is that I've got two possible scenarios that can be taken with this alternate timeline. In one scenario, I'll find a way to save Radz. In the other, I'll let him die. I'll leave it up to you guys as to whether I survive or the comic becomes strictly Sonic based.

Also, be warned, my life is far more crowded these days than it once was. I'll be updating once a week and it will only be story driven comics, not strictly slapstick comics.

Yeah, the title makes it look like something for the OT, but I'm serious. I didn't mind going to my last college (good ol' Dalton State), but now I'm having to transfer to Kennesaw State and frankly, their offices suck balls. I sent in all the stuff I needed...applications, transcripts, money...and yet they still haven't accepted me after THREE WEEKS!!!

Now, tomorrow is the last day to register for classes, and I don't know what they hell is going on with my application. I'm majorly pissed and stressed... :evil: :x

Just thought I'd let you guys know that the Deal or No Deal arc has comepletely taken on a life of its own. What started as a three episode are has turned into a five comic arc with an epic fifth issue. Make sure you check it out tonight and tommorrow. Broken Comics

Alright, so I had planned out this nice idea for a wedding proposal. I was gonna take my girlfriend to the beach for a few days and then propose to her the last night at sunset with a picnic on the beach and the works.

Sadly, I've been shot down on that front for...undisclosed...unusual...sad...reasons... Anyhow, the point is, I need suggestions for what else I could do...that obviously isn't anything like the above since it will be shot down for the same reason. Nothing overnight or anything that's gonna waste an entire day to get there and back...

Yes, in a few weeks I'll be starting a service where I send Broken Comics directly to your Wii every week. If you're too lazy to check once a week or can't seem to remember, this service delivers the comic to you weekly.

The service should start up within the next two months since I will be receiving high-speed internet then, but I may start sooner if I get enough people wanting to use the service.

To sign up, simply register my email address (radz_the_hedgehog@hotmail.com) on your Wii. I'll accept your request for registration on your friend roster. Next, you must send me a message directly requesting that you receive Broken Comics on your Wii. This is simply a precaution on my part so that I have clear proof that you did indeed sign up for the service.

Once all that is done I will send you a letter confirming your registration and I'll also give a few more details and also the procedure for requesting that you be dropped from the mailing list.

Hope this makes Broken Comics more accessable to all you Wii owners.

Yes, the thing we hated when we heard about it months ago...Friend Codes! :evil: We all know that they have already stated that the system will be similar to the DS system, but with the recent news we've received there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

According to various sources including IGN and Gamespot, if you have an internet connection you can use the Message Board channel to post memos that anyone on your friend list can see. Now it could be a special message board friends list, but it could also mean that you have a SINGLE friends list. The "Mii" system also lends itself to a single friends list as opposed to a friend list for all the games you play online.

Now only time can tell, but things are looking bright on the online gaming front. 8)

Yep, it took forever but I'm finally on high-speed now. I've already got several BC members in my Friends List.

I don't have any online games for the Wii, but I do have vouchers in Corruption and several DS games including Hunters.

You heard it right. Rumors have been circulating for a while now that there will be a tournament held on March 8th, the night before Brawl is released. Today I talked to the guy in my local Gamestop and he confirmed that there will be tournaments held nationwide, but not all stores are participating. Only one of the three Gamestop stores in my town is holding a tournament. The tournament will last until midnight at which time you will be able to buy your copy of the game.

I'm sad to say that I'm not entirely sure of all the exact specifications. I'm not sure whether it will be Melee or Brawl at this point or if it starts at 8 or 9 o'clock. I was in a bit of a hurry, but I will go back and get more information within the next week.

I do know that there will be several levels of the tournament from individual stores, to districts, eventually to a final tournament held in LA...all expenses paid by Nintendo.

The only way at this point to find out where the tournaments will be held is to ask your local Gamestop. As far as I know, Gamestop nor Nintendo have officially announced the tournament, but you can't sign up for the tournament yet either.

Feel free to make any comments or questions or even suggestions right here. Don't forget to bookmark the Broken Comics home page so you can check in. I'm considering making it a twice weekly comic if I can get some of my college assignments finished.

Also, don't be afraid to submit some of your own work since I'm seriously considering getting at least another staff member to actually work on the comic unlike Whadu who is essentially the webmaster. Your works need to be funny without too much message board speak and terms. I think since I've started I've only used such things twice (Introductions #6 and Broken Comics HQ teaser). No bannation or other forum stuff. It can be funny and is appropriate on occasion (the character is on a forum etc.), but is a bit limited in its range of appeal (unless appropriate). Decent spelling and grammer are needed, but not perfect since even I've made mistakes in the comic. Lastly, the comic needs to be saved in the PNG format and use my format...for the official comic, but your submissions can look like whatever.

...over the console wars. He bought a PS3 and is praising it to high heaven. Made me sick and I quickly said that I preferred the Wii to the PS3. He proceeds to say the "Wii is gay" to which I responded with great self-control and didn't start ranting but calmly continued. He claims the PS3 will eventually be as good at the motion as the Wii, has better graphics, larger games, and HD.

1. The motion will not ever be as good as the Wii because it's not the same technology.

2. To hell with grahics! I played Excite Truck and the PS3 equivalent...guess which one I enjoyed more and played for almost 30 minutes and which one I didn't even finish a race on...

3. Larger games? Larger than 50+ damned hours for a SEASONED gamer? That's just going to damned far. They don't hardly use all the space they have now...

4. HD...I HATE HD! Why? First off because I don't have it and therefore don't need it, but I also hate how they use this as an excuse. To buy a HDTV and the PS3 is gonna cost you some serious cash...it would take all my paychecks for a couple months...BEFORE TAXES! It's just not financially sound and there aren't enough HD things to warrent the purchase at this time. There are games and a few channels, but not enough for me to give away months of my paychecks...

5. Didn't mention it above, but Blue-Ray. Who gives a fuck about Blue-Ray? I haven't seen a single Blue-Ray anything! Blue-Ray might take off...in ten years...by which time the PS3 will likely be long dead.

Anybody watched this show? I bet not. Most people likely skimmed over it because it came on KidsWB which is notorious for making crap shows that rarely last more than one season...unless it's anime that sucks and manages to stay on for like a decade.

Whatever the case, it's a great show despite the time frame it's in. IGN has stated that they think it is as good or better than many primetime dramas for adult audiences. It has plot, but not enough to bore. It has action, but not enough to seem shallow. It's a perfect mix! There are overarching aspects, but they are subtle and don't overshadow the situation at hand. You can see things building towards an end for a long time.

For instance, in the third episode, something happens that begins to foreshadow what happens in the season finale...a full ten episodes later. This was kind of the underlining story for the entire season, but if you weren't aware of the Spiderman lore, you might miss it.

It's in a really kid oriented time slot, but The Spectacular Spiderman has so many aspects that can appeal to older audiences. I think if people gave it a chance, this show could survive is an "older" time slot.

Yeah, it's been a hard decision, but I've decided if people wanna see it, I'll post my scripts for issue #100 and #101. Obviously there as some SERIOUS spoilers since it's the whole issue in text form. So, if you read it now it won't be nearly as impressive when it actually makes it online. But the main reason I'm offering this is that maybe if somebody sees it, they may decide to try to get it finished. If I can't find an artist in the next few months I may just turn it into a fanfic instead...

Oh, and the comic will be back September 25th with the Hola series if I don't get a date by my current artist candidate.

That's right, the Broken Comics page is in need of a face lift. I need someone who excels at web design to create a new look for the pages. I'll be happy to provide you with the templates for the current pages so you can see how it works. I'd like custom or pseudo custom everything since the prominent reason for the needed redesign is that the owner of the navigation buttons has requested they be removed. I didn't know they were his until just about ten minutes ago when he requested they be removed.

I only ask one major thing in the new design...ok, maybe two.
1. Center the comic and have the rest of the page revolve around it. The comic is the focus.
2. Branches from the first...I don't want a really super loud design. I want something snazzy and semi-professional, but I don't want something that makes the page look busy.

It's different, but it's grown on me. The thing is that nobody knows for sure who the band is. :? It's pretty likely that it's not Crush 40 since this is definitely not even their style. Some say it's a band called ZebraHead and some say Linkin Park. Take a listen and tell me who you think it is.

I finally got to play the Wii yesterday. All I could play was Excitetruck, but it was awesome anyhow...and I don't normally enjoy racing games at all if they aren't cart racers.

I played the equivalent game on the PS3 and I totally sucked at that game...didn't even finish a lap... So if Wii can make me enjoy a game I normally don't, it owns greater than ever! 8)

Never heard of it? I'm not surprised. My cousin introduced me to it the other day and sent me a flash drive with it and some music Friday. I've beat it, but with only the bad and good endings. I've yet to get the best ending.

Basically, it's a game very similar to the original Metroid. It looks and plays really old-school. The best part...it was made by ONE guy! It's good enough to be an old-school NES game, but was made by a single guy.

Rumor also has it that they're porting it to the DS possibly...

Yeah, I'm behind the times, but while I was on vacation I bought the first and second Ace Attorney games to make the trip home much easier.

On that note, since I've finished the first and my brother is still working on the second (we're sharing), I was wondering if anybody would be willing to do an Ace Attorney roleplay. I've thought up a rather good system I believe, but I'm not wasting my time explaining if nobody is interested in participating.

I'm going to have a bit more free time on my hands for a while, so I'm looking for ways to kill it and a good MMO seems like the best way. Suggestions?

I of course know about Maple Story and have considered restarting as a new character since my last one was accidentally permanently MAULED. I'm really not looking forward to re-grinding again though. But if there are some players on BC I might consider it.

Anyhow, back to the topic at hand, suggestions?

EDIT: I'm in a fantasy mood too by the way. Magic and monsters and that sort of thing...and real-time combat of course.

In particular I'm looking for the overworld theme or the main theme...the same one they've used since the beginning. I want something high quality and preferably orchastrated. I'd just try Limewire or something, but I'll be on dial-up for another week and for whatever reason it won't work. I want something fit for a ringtone...a high quality ringtone...

Oh my word! This is halarious! It's called Line Rider and using it you draw lines and then a guy on a sled rides the line. There have been some really amazing tracks drawn. The physics are really cool because he falls and rolls and ragdolls all over the place. One particularly funny incident is if he falls off the entire course...HE FALLS FOREVER!

...and you've only scratched the surface. Matt from IGN seems to think so and is now confident that Twilight Princess will take a seasoned gamer 50+ hours to complete without side quests or other "time sucks" as he puts them. Check out his opinion on the game here.
