I'm one of those people that likes eating at the computer, and was wondering what other people eat while they're at their computer.

Right now I'm eating Raisinets (chocolate-covered raisins) that I got in band class earlier today. Personally, I can't even taste any raisin. o_o

EDIT: Changed topic. Might be a little easier to answer for. :)

If you love sailing the seven seas, invading rival ships, and saying "arg" all the time, you'll love Pirate Day (wow, capitalization)! :o

You speak in pirate lingo the whole day (as long as you're celebrating) and maybe even add a pirate-y touch to your signature and avatar, like adding eyepatches or peglegs. :) We could also celebrate great pirates in video games, and the world in general. Go, Tetra!

So, any ideas as to what date it should be and what other stuff it should include? Post yer idears here, ya scurvy landlubbers! Wink

I saw this in our local paper today, however, it says the news is from last week.

- Both of Sony's PlayStation 3 models will now ship with HDMI output. Initially, the 20GB model was not going to include an HDMI output, but at a press conference at the Tokyo Game Show Kutaragi said that HDMI would be required to play copy-protected movies on the console's Blu-ray drive.

- The less expensive PlayStation 2 model, which features a smaller, 20GB harddrive, will be getting a price cut. The model will now sell for 49,980 yen, or about $429. Kutaragi said the price cut came in reaction to complaints about the price of the console in Japan. Sony has not commented on whether a similar price cut would be coming to the model in the U.S. where it us currently listed for $500. The higher-end, 60GB model will be selling for $600. Both go on sale here Nov. 17.

Datestamp: Mon Aug 14, 06 2:31 PM
I made a board like this once on Nsider and it got flamed like crazy... Knowing how nice you guys are, I decided to post it here as well. :)

To start off, I want to mention that the manga, SSBM, fanfics, and some other sources are not official in LoZ or the LoZ timeline. The manga calls Sheik a boy, and SSBM a girl (in the Japanese version it says "he"..) but both can be argued.

I believe Sheik is male because Zelda uses magic to take the identity of a Sheikah boy to hide from Ganondorf, gender included. One of the biggest changes is body type, which obviously can't be changed by just using a costume. Some argue that skin color and eye color can be changed with makeup and contacts (which haven't even been invented when OoT takes place) but body type would be hard to change by just using man-made products, that's where the magic comes in. Some say it isn't possible for Zelda to just change her gender by magic, but think about what else isn't possible in the game... None of the races actually exist, most events would be impossible to do in real life (a horse can't jump over a wall twice its size), so I think Zelda magically becoming Sheik fits into that "impossible" category. Nintendo avoids controversy issues by calling Sheik female in SSBM (in the English version), which confused some fans because Sheik still had the male body type. (Sheik's voice in SSBM was weird to me, it sounded more masculine at some points than others. Compare Sheik's taunt voice to the KO scream... They sound pretty different...) I have no idea why people call Zelda a cross-dresser, she simply found a way to hide from Ganondorf while still helping Link.

I don't want to make your eyes bleed from reading too much of my horrible grammar and theory, but sank yew for reading and please post. :D

Since SSBM isn't online and I can't wait for SSBB to come out, in the meantime I thought of doing a SSBM tournament here at BC, where we do a couple matches and see how different peoples' scores come out.

BATTLE #1: The first match is at Great Bay. You can be any character you want, and you are going against three level-nines: Ganondorf, Donkey Kong, and Bowser. It's a timed match, 5 minutes.

Here you post how many KOs you got, how many times you got KOed and etc. After everybody who wants to posted what happened in the match, the person who got KOed the least and KOed the most times wins a prize of some sort... Maybe a rare AC:WW item or a signature.

I'm going to try this for myself in a bit, but my score won't count because I suck at SSBM. XD

EDIT: I just tried it, and I accidently pushed start before I could write down the exact scores, but I was Link and I had exactly 0 points and Ganondorf had +6. :P I got knocked off a couple times, but KOed Donkey Kong and Bowser a few times to even it out. I overused Link's arial down+A and up+B attacks, which helped a lot. :D

Can be good or bad, funny or not, but post what people you know have said about video games here.

Today, in Art, we were making collages (is that how it's spelled?) by cutting pictures and words out of various magazines. I found a Nintendo Power in the magazine stack and looked inside a bit until I found a picture I liked, Touch and Go Yoshi. (I saw Four Swords Link, too, but I thought Yoshi was better suited for my collage.) I sat back down and started to cut out Yoshi when my acquaintance/friend came up and said, "Oh, that's a cute frog you're cutting out." :|

Also, last week on the bus my friend wanted me to draw something for her so I could show her how I improved over the summer. My other friend was sitting by me at the time and said, "Draw that character from Zora that you drew for me, remember?" Zora is a race in the series she was actually talking about (Zelda) and I drew a puppy instead. :P

Why is it that in most every action/adventure video game, the objective is to kill or defeat everyone else? And everyone else tries to do the same to you? :? I can't think of a single game that doesn't have this.

For example: In Mario games, Bowser and his minions try to defeat Mario, trying to save kidnapped Princess Peach. In The Legend of Zelda games, Ganon (or Vaati) and his minions try to defeat Link, who is on a quest to save Princess Zelda in some way or another. In Pokemon, you try to train your Pokemon to be the strongest in the region, and defeat other Pokemon to gain experience. In Sonic games, you have to keep Dr. Eggman and his minions from destroying the world by destorying them. In Kingdom Hearts games, you and your allies have to conquer over the evil darkness and all its forms.

I only used popular franchises that I can think of, but you'll see that in lots of video games out today, this is the case. I can't think of a good closer, JUST POST HERE. :D

My N64 and games.

My not-so-broken controllers (my GBA's in there, too).

My Gamecube games. (Don't ask how I got the Fairly Oddparents game. >_> I have two Pokemon Colleseums because one was a bonus disc I got for pre-ordering, and the blank case has Cubivore in it.) The two discs shown in front are Action Replay and Gameboy Player.

The back of the booklet thingy I got with the OoT soundtrack (it's mostly in Japanese.. :P). They're fighting off various OoT enemies, and Sheik has a funky dagger-thingy. o_O

My DS, flute, and synthesizer. The synthesizer still has letter note stickers pasted on it, but I don't really need them anymore. :)

Thanks for looking at the pics and feel free to post some random pictures you took, too! :D

Earlier today, I posted on the homepage about Tingle's all-japanese website which shows different features and characters of the game. There's even a flash game on the page and I played around in it a bit and clicked on a comic book which then showed different comics feauturing Tingle. I put one together in Paint and made it an image, this comic shows Tingle in the different games he's been in (Majora's Mask, SSBM, Wind Waker, and Rose-Colored Rupee Land, although they didn't mention Four Swords and Minish Cap).

The website is here.

This topic is for everyone to post all video game-related and non video game-related dreams that you thought were worth posting. :) I had one two nighta ago that went sorta like this...

Okay, it was set it OoT and I was a Hylian. The Zoras had mysteriously vanished and their entire lake had frozen up. Unfortunetly, the Zoras were where we got our water source, and their water was distributed everywhere in Hyrule, to every race. Since they had disapeared, the Hylians in Kakariko built a giant Water Factory where everyone in Hyrule had to work if they wanted any water at all. One day, as I was working, I saw a lone Zora baby who looked very similar to Ruto as a child laying on the floor of the factory. I knew if someone found her, they would ask her a zillion questions about the Zora that she wouldn't or even couldn't answer. I hid her in a back room of the factory, and brought her food from my house every day when I came to work. This worked for a couple years, and I woke up right after she was learning to walk and talk.

Verrrry weird dream there. :? Post yours here, too! :D

I was thinking of ideas for improvement on BC and thought of this...

Sometimes I feel like posting something that isn't really great enough to need a whole topic or a spot on the homepage (I'm getting the Japanese 82-track OoT soundtrack tomorrow, WOOT) but I still want to announce it some way or another. I don't want to change my signature, so I thought everyone at BC could have their own editable profile. You may or may not have noticed that I've been gone since Friday. Well, what happened was we had to go to Minnesota to my mom's friend's wedding but my computer broke down the day before. I had been using my dad's laptop but on the day of the flight, I forgot to post here that I'd be gone. I missed a lot (two pages of unread topics on every board) but hopefully I'll make it up by being active and contributing to the site. :) While in Minnesota, we visited the Mall of America (I went into Gamestop 6 times to look at TP's boxart and play the Strikers demo over and over) and the Water Park of America. I didn't stop thinking of BC for a second and got on my dad's laptop the second I got home (err, the day after, actually). It's nice to be back and thanks for reading this whole post... or this sentence. :D

I usually think manga ruins a good video game (or show, or whatever) but it this case it's the opposite, it seems to show the story from a different point of view, so you can get a better understanding of the characters. There are minor cuss words, since in Japan a word is just a word (the US exagerrates cursing a little too much), but don't worry, because they don't offend or cause problems. There are 6 different books that have been translated which are Ocarina of Time (part 1 and 2, two books), Majora's Mask, Oracle of Seasons, Oracle of Ages, and Minish Cap.

Quoted directly from the page:
"For those that are new to manga, these are read right-to-left. I didn't change that. I also left most of the sound affects and such in their original Japanese form, to further preserve the manga. I'd just make a mess if I tried to change them. I only change what is not obvious. For example, I'm not going to change the katakana-represented sound of hoofbeats, because I'm sure you can figure that one out on your own."

Have fun reading them! :D

Does anyone have ACID Pro 6 (or 5, or 4, some recent version)? It's like a GarageBand for Windows, which is a program that uses loops and effects to create music. My dad has it, and I was playing around with it a little last night, and made a piano version of Zelda's Lullaby and the Bolero of Fire. :D I also used loops to make a weird song with lots of violins... I might even find some way to host my songs, but probably not. :P I'm too lazy.

Sooo.. music-making programs, anyone?
