"Yesterday we released the Summer 2006 Update for Day of Defeat: Source. Judging from the games we've had on the public servers running the new maps, Jagd and Colmar (click each to see trailers), people are having the same kind of fun we were having around the office before we released them. If you still haven't purchased Day of Defeat: Source, you'll get a chance to play the new maps in about a week, as we'll be having a second Day of Defeat: Source Free Weekend. The second free weekend will commence at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time on July 7th, and conclude at 1:00 p.m Pacific time on July 10th. We're looking forward to seeing you all there."

Well then, with this plethora of information filing in, and upon reading it, I've noticed the Wii to be a rip off for Canadians--as with most game systems.

First off, the Wii's price is $249 US. Fantastic. That means it'll be skewed up unnecessarily to $349, or maybe just $299 if we're lucky. (Companies like to milk Canadians for an extra $100, regardless of the exchange rate.) Then comes the Virtual Console! FUN! $5-$10 per game. Great. Rip off for NES games. I can go to my local EB and pick up a bunch of NES games for between $1.99 to $4.99, SNES up to around $7.99 or so. Then come the game prices! Wow! $50 U.S.. Again, companies enjoy milking Canadians for no reason. Most games are $5-$10 more expensive in Canada, usually $10 when it comes to console games.

So, I check my GameSpot account (you know, the banned one) and find 30 new private messages. Union invites, union invites, a few Nintendo United updates, union invites, union invites, BAM! I got a little something from somebody named Gray_Dust; the PM title being: "Creating An Online Community ". Here's the text:

What's the point of playing online games with people you probably don't know? Sure, it's fun, but wouldn't it be more fun to play with the people ou actually know? That's why we're trying to create a community of people who will be playing the Nintendo Wii, and for people who have or are buying a Nintendo DS; whether you play online or not, it's always more fun when you post or play online with the people you know. Heck, imagine playing Animal Crossing Wii or Super Smash Bros.: Brawl with a couple of buds you know from online, that could never get boring! Playing tag or fishing together, or pounding each other into next week, that's the way to play. I just finished playing the demo on PC. All I can say is WOW. Gameplay is great, graphics are great, sound, environments, enemies, etc. Absolutely perfect. It's totally going to win GOTY.

I come home expecting one of my torrents running to be done. Well, it wasn't-- instead, I find that my computer rebooted somehow. 'Kay, well, I'll just continue on from this annoying menu that happens early on in the boot process.

No dice.

It just reaches the Windows loading screen then reboots itself. I then proceed to boot from Safe Mode, so I can run a virus scan to find out whether I'm being plagued by a virus (which I likely am).

No dice.

Instead, I get the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH and my computer reboots. Again.

ANy tips on where to go from this? Or am I doomed to either wipe the HDD, or go into system recovery and, hopefully, set it back a few days (if that's a possible option)?

All right, BC peoples. Listen up. I've got a good game to hype to you about, for those who haven't known of it's existence and haven't been following it.

The name is Advance Wars: Day of Ruin. It's the same old AW we love, with nerfed CO powers and a more serious look. But with online play for 4 players (the capability to do friends-only or random people only). And microphone support. And extra awesomes.

Therefore, I implore you all to get the same so we can have some online tournies. I'm sure that 2 v 2 is supported, meaning we can have a fun little tourny that ends in pwnage.

After being disappointed time and time again with LimeWire failing to allow me to download Mega Man music and finding the soundtracks for Mega Man 1-6 and Mega Man X-X6 for $59.99 U.S. a piece --with $15 shipping each-- I have had a website bestowed upon me that allows me to either stream the music or save it to my computer. Free.

I've finally heard a song I've waited years to hear without having to boot up my PS1 or my GCN. I have reached true bliss. 6 minute long Mega Man songs. At my fingertips. I am getting ready to save the songs to my computer, so I may create a playlist and game to it.

Through some horrendously rough and sketchy calculations, I have deduced that I have around 800 hours of available gaming time, if I sleep for 10 hours a day. I'll probably cut sleeping time down some more, however, to allocate more fun time.

My plan includes:

-Two play-throughs of Tales of Symphonia, for the two special endings, and to use characters other than Lloyd

-Replaying all the old side-scroller console Mega Man games I have (1-8, X1-6; Mega Man Soccer is included)

-Replaying Yoshi's Island (SNES)

-Replaying the Donkey Kong Country games (SNES)

-Playing Enemy Territory: Quake Wars (PC)

-Playing Final Fantasy VIII, and maybe VII. And perhaps even Final Fantasy Tactics

-Finishing up any and all unfinished games that I've accumulated

I hope to accomplish all that. I doubt I will, but hey; you never know. The Mega Man goal is well within reach, as is Tales of Symphonia. Quake Wars is an obvious easy accomplishment, and the Donkey Kong Country games will only divert me by how difficult they are. Yoshi's Island is amazing and I want to replay it as I have it for DS. The only goal that I have that may not be accomplished is catching up on all previous gaming-- that's a doozy.

It all makes perfect sense now!

I'm listening to GWAR's first album right now. I knew it was going to be weird, I knew it was going to have shock tactics and stuff. But this? This is... unimaginable. I actually find myself hesitant to continue listening, but must, since I DLed it and must judge it fit or not.

Nintendo was so horribly, horribly depressing. They wasted an insane amount of time on dumb numbers and showed off nothing worthwhile. Then they insulted all us real gamers by showing that Miyamoto was spending his time on the big "unannounced" game, which is now revealed as Wii Fit.

Microsoft was pretty dull and the golf clapping after each video was annoying. No games were terribly interesting, and Halo, which was the focal point, still looked like the mediocre shooter it was. I did like the environments for the levels, though.

Sony's presentation was easily the best. They showed off some amazing videos and wasted almost no time on crappy stats. The way they showed off the videos (zoomed out) was horrendous, because you could see VIRTUALLY NOTHING. All the segments using Home were stupid, and the first joke made was some crappy Ridge Racer attempt. Awful. But the games were amazing-- LittleBigPlanet still stands as one of the best PS3 games coming, and MGS4 was MGS4. Killzone 2 was aesthetically pleasing, but one can only wonder what the gameplay is like. Oh, and Haze is going to be a generic shooter that brings nothing new to the table.
