Magnificent Seven X
Each week in the Magnificent Seven, jaguars.com senior writer John Oehser offers seven thoughts on all things Jaguars . . .7.More praise for Poz. We’ve praised the acquisition of middle linebacker Paul Posluszny in Magnificent Seven already, but you know what? My column, and I praise who I want as often as I want. The bottom line is there were a lot of people who questioned the signing of Posluszny in August. That may be, but the Jaguars are very, very glad they signed him. The Jaguars made five significant defensive free-agent acquisitions – Posluszny, linebacker ClintSession, defensive end MattRoth, safety Dawan Landry, cornerback DrewColeman – and traded for safety DwightLowery. Considering the overall improvement of the defense, it’s safe to say overall that strategy worked. If there is a key to the group, though, it might be Posluszny. He has complemented defensive tackles Tyson Alualu and Terrance Knighton to improve the run defense, and has played better in coverage than many believed he would. He also gave the Jaguars something they sometimes didn’t have last season – a middle linebacker who could get the team in and out of the right defenses and act as something like a coach on the field. The belief is that Polsuszny will only improve as he gets more comfortable in the defense, and if that’s true, he could be a key to the defense for several years.6.He’s ba-a-a-ack -- perhaps. Veteran defensive end Aaron Kampman practiced Wednesday and it’s possible he’ll make his 2011 debut this week against Cincinnati. There have been a lot of fans asking about Kampman being a bust because he only has played eight games thus far with the Jaguars. I don’t see that the way a lot of people do, mainly because he has missed time because of injury. To me, that’s not the same as someone coming in and detracting from the team because he’s underperforming or a locker room malcontent. Last year, Kampman gave the Jaguars eight games of leadership, but more importantly, he gave them significant on-field performance: four sacks in eight games. He did that coming off of an ACL. Doing so again will be more difficult. He’s a year older and now has had two ACLs in a two-year span. The odds aren’t with Kampman, but from all you hear and from the time I’ve spent around the guy, if anyone can squeeze more production than what might seem logical from a situation, it’s Kampman. He prepares with professionalism and if there’s anything to give, he’s going to give it. The Jaguars are hoping that’s enough to add some significant pass rush to an already solid defense. We’ll see.5.Tough October. Anyone who’s read the O-Zone regularly knows I’m not a big look-at-the-schedule-in-August guy. Too much changes from week to week and the NFL is too much of a year-to-year league to know in August what will happen in November. I still believe it’s tough to look too far down the road during the regular season, but now we’re into October and we’ll overstate the obvious by saying this is a very difficult month. Not only did the Jaguars face one of the NFL’s best offenses last week against New Orleans, they now face Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Baltimore in consecutive weeks – the NFL’s top three defenses – before facing the Texans in late October. The good news? It’s not absurd to think the Jaguars can play with Cincinnati, and although the Steelers are still very good defensively, they don’t look like the dominant team they did this time last season. My thought is that the Jaguars are going to get better as the season continues. I believe quarterback BlaineGabbert will improve and that while there aren’t many long-term solutions in the receiving corps, the unit will improve in the short-term as the players get used to Gabbert’s style. For that reason, I think the Jaguars will play significantly better than people anticipate in the second half of the season. The question: can they improve quickly enough and piece enough victories together in October for November and December to matter?4.AFC South. So, here were are – just another year with the Houston Texans atop the AFC South. That’s sarcastic, of course, but with the Indianapolis Colts – the division champions seven of the last eight seasons – seemingly out of the division race practically before it begins, the division has a decidedly different feel. The Texans through four games are 3-1, and while they look very, very good, let’s not forget: they looked very, very good last season before shattering at mid-season and finishing the season 6-10. The Texans’ defense appears improved – and it’s certainly well-coached with Wade Phillips as the coordinator – so there’s little indication the Texans will collapse, but there’s a lot of season to be played before we anoint them division champs. The same is true of the Tennessee Titans, who at 3-1 are better than many originally thought but who still have holes.Premier Robert Meachem Jersey, Replica Robert Meachem Jersey, Dallas Clark Jersey, Robert Meachem Replica Jersey, Authentic Knowshon Moreno Jersey, Dallas Clark Jersey Authentic , Peyton Manning Jersey, Robert Meachem Authentic Jersey, Tim Tebow Jersey, Dallas Clark Authentic Jersey, Tim Tebow Authentic Jersey, Authentic Tim Tebow Jersey, Knowshon Moreno Jersey, Peyton Manning Authentic Jersey, Authentic Dwayne Bowe Jersey, Dwayne Bowe Jersey, Authentic Peyton Manning Jersey, Knowshon Moreno Authentic Jersey, Authentic Dallas Clark Jersey, Knowshon Moreno Jersey Authentic , Robert Meachem Jersey Authentic, Tim Tebow Jersey Authentic , Robert Meachem Premier Jersey, Peyton Manning Jersey Authentic , Authentic Robert Meachem Jersey, Robert Meachem Jersey Premier, Robert Meachem Jersey Replica, Dwayne Bowe Authentic Jersey, Dwayne Bowe Jersey Authentic

Family IQ Marketing System Review - Killer Approach or Marketing Hype?
I recently did a MLM company review on a new company called Family IQ that has been causing quite a stir in the MLM industry. From my in depth Family IQ Review you already know all the general facts about the company, the product, and the lucrative Top Tier compensation plan, so now I want to review the marketing approach and sales funnel that most distributors receive when they join Family IQ.Will the Family IQ marketing system work for you?Can this fairly simple sales funnel and lead generation approach really stand up to the claims of master distributor Rod Stinson who supposedly uses several simple marketing approaches and a recorded tele-seminar to generate an average of $70,710 a month in income with Family IQ?Now it's no secret in the network marketing industry that top earners in most companies routinely pull in staggering amount of money in monthly commissions, sometimes hitting one hundred thousand and more, with some even reaching mid six figures in monthly income."Beam me up Scottie".... I have stumbled into a parallel universe.Hey we all know that there are stellar performers in every industry and company, you know, those are the people we all admire and hate at the same time. They seem to be nice people but it's those gaudy $87,000 monthly commission checks that just seem unfair! However what most people really want to know is, can they do it, can they duplicate whatever success strategy is being used by the top earners so that they have a chance at the golden ring.Well this is where the rubber meets the road, I could talk a long time about this issue and the reasons why some make it in network marketing and most fail but that's for another article.I will tell you that the single biggest reason that most people fail in MLM (other than lack of motivation and focus) is because of what I refer to as "Lead Poverty". They just don't understand marketing and how to generate leads so they keep dragging out their "warm market list" every time they go into a new MLM and badgering the same group of people until they finally join the "NFL" which means "No Friends Left".To succeed in MLM you have to understand a basic marketing principle called "The Law Of Large Numbers", which tells you that success is numbers related. That means if you put a product in front of a large enough group of leads, you will have lots of sales. It's an input/output equation, the more leads you have, the more sales you have, and the more profit you have.So how do you escape from Lead Poverty and embrace the Law of Large Numbers? Now there are a lot of ways I coach people to do this, Old School MLM marketing approaches, Crossover Approaches, and Online Internet Driven MLM Marketing Approaches will all get you there. The bottom line is that with a constant high volume lead flow, you can't miss.So let's review the specific marketing and lead generation approaches that the Family IQ marketing system uses. The Family IQ "Funnel Marketing System"This is the core of the marketing approach and is a recorded webinar or teleseminar that features Master Distributor Rod Stinson doing an hour long opportunity presentation in which he goes over the concept of direct response marketing, talks about Family IQ & their Top Tier compensation plan, and shows his proof that the system works by featuring several photos of his dining room table covered in $1000 cashier's checks. Now the Family IQ teleseminar is actually a pretty powerful video that really does the heaving lifting for the distributor. Although I feel it's probably a little long, but it gets the job done and hits the prospect at the very beginning of the presentation with the huge income potential and then keeps hammering home the point. That is of course the beauty of the Top Tier MLM business model, you get the normal huge income potential of the long term residual income once you build a large group, but you also get big bucks up front. This presentation comes in the form of a replicated website that each new Family IQ rep receives that includes a hosted capture page with an opt in form, a video presentation, a basic autoresponder with automatic follow up letters already written and in place, and a back office with a simple lead and contact manager. This system is great for a new distributor since its all set up, and requires no technical knowledge on the part of the new rep. It's pretty much plug and play. The Family IQ "Lead Generation Prospecting Software"Now this is one of the core parts of Rods Family IQ marketing funnel presentation which he mentions several times in the teleseminar as he talks about being able to generate thousands of free targeted lead daily to power your business. Now of course this hits home with lots of prospects since the single biggest problem of a distributor in the MLM industry is in fact generating leads and finding prospects, but the question is does this software really work?Well the answer is yes, I have actually had quite a bit of experience with software such as this and it does in fact do what it claims to do, that is to generate leads. This is actually a software program you buy at a discount and download to your computer. UpdatedOct 6, 2011 12:27 PM ETNEW YORK ? NBA owners, losing hundreds ofmillions of dollars a year, wanted an overhaul of the financialsystem to ensure themselves a chance to profit. Players, believingthey were the driving force behind record TV ratings and revenues, wanted to keep what they felt they deserved. Now, negotiations thathave lasted nearly two years need to end in the next few days.Formal meetings haven't been held since Tuesday ?and none are scheduled ? but Jazz president Randy Rigby saidboth sides continue to communicate toward making a resolution. "Ido know that aggressive talks are going on behind the scenes,"Rigby said Wednesday in an interview with Jazz-owned radio station1320 KFAN. "I know aggressive discussions are going on to keep thisthing moving forward, and that's what we want to encourage. That'swhat we want our fans to know." Even so, NBA commissioner David Stern said hewill cancel the first two weeks of the regular season in there isno agreement on a new deal by Monday, costing both sides money anddriving away some basketball fans who might never come back. "Thereis an extraordinary hit coming to the owners and to the players,"Stern said. Stern predicted a $200 million loss just for thecancellation of the NBA's entire preseason schedule. Ifarenas are dark on Nov. 1, when the real games are supposed tostart, the damage will be "enormous," added NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver.Players' association executive director Billy Hunter said playerswould lose $350 million for each month they're locked out. Despitedismal reports, some national reporters are reporting that thesides are closer to reaching a settlement than they're publiclyletting on. NBA writer Ken Berger fromCBSSports.com reported that the owners and players are now only$500 million apart over the length of the next collectivebargaining agreement ? just $71 million per year ? after beginningnegotations $2.5 billion apart on a seven-year deal. ChrisSheridan, a former ESPN and AP writer who now runssheridanhoops.com, claimed the two sides were as close as making "alayup." Stern has said owners had two goals: a way to escape lossesand a system where all teams could compete equally. The problem, they said, was a system that guarantees players 57 percent of allbasketball-related income, which includes gate receipts, broadcastrevenue, in-arena sales of novelties and concessions, arena signagerevenue, game parking and sponsorship dollars. Another problem is asalary cap structure that allows teams to go well beyond it if theywere willing to pay a luxury tax, which the big spenders in bigmarkets such as Los Angeles and New York could easily afford. Thesides are still divided over the revenue split and the cap, andplayers insist they would rather sit out games than take a dealthat would eliminate gains they fought for years ago. "They'regoing to sacrifice ? if they lose games, they miss money and allthat. They feel they have to take a stand the same way players tooka stand for them before they were here. It's actually quiteinspiring to listen to them articulate that," said players'attorney Jeffrey Kessler, who also represented NFL players duringtheir four-month lockout this summer. "I think they saw how the NFLplayers stood together through tough times and ended up with a dealthe NFL players thought was fair. They're thinking they're going todo the same thing." The cost, for both sides, would be staggering. The hardest hits likely will be felt by those off the court ? fromthe 114 people the NBA laid off in July to businessesthat depend on fans flocking to the games. From the parking lot ofhis Crown Burgers restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City, MikeKatsanevas can see the edge of EnergySolutions Arena, itsblue-and-green lights already twinkling at dusk. What he may notsee at all this year are the hundreds of fans who routinely packhis 224-seat restaurant before each Utah Jazz game, parking theircars for free if they order $14 in food, including his famousmade-to-order patties crowned with pastrami. "For us, it's atremendous impact if these games don't go through," saidKatsanevas, whose family owns the restaurant just a block north ofthe arena and five others in the metro area. "Before it used to beour gravy. But now with the economy and everything else that'sgoing on, it's become a necessity." He said all of his 41 employeeswill see their hours cut if the lockout continues. Players andowners did narrow the financial gap before talks broke downTuesday. Players proposed lowering their BRI guarantee to 53percent and owners increased their formal offer to 47 percent.Stern also said he discussed the idea of a 50-50 split, which wasrejected by players. With each percentage point equivalent toroughly $38 million of last year's BRI total of $3.8 billion, theunion believes a reduction from 57 percent to 53 percent is enoughof a concession, saying it would transfer more than $1 billion toowners in six years. So while sharing 50-50 sounds great inkindergarten, it may not work for NBA players. Stern said the leaguehad backed off other demands, like salary rollbacks andnon-guaranteed contracts, while offering players a chance to optout of the agreement after seven years. So there is hope of acompromise in the coming days. Both sides insist they are committedto making a deal, although Silver confirmed last season that somemoney-losing teams would be better off if there were no season.Fans wonder how the NBA could be on the brink ofself-destruction over a few measly percentage points when itspopularity has soared. The historic free agency period of 2010,which put LeBron James in Miami alongside Dwyane Wade and ChrisBosh, brought a new level of interest that carried right throughthe Dallas Mavericks' victory over the Heat in the NBA finals. But in announcing thelockout on June 30, Stern noted that small-market owners didn'tparticularly enjoy the season or feel included in it, and many havelittle incentive to go back to a system that looks like the oldone. Nor would players want to play under a system that restrictsfree agency or limits their earning potential. Hunter and unionpresident Derek Fisher of the Lakers have said they are prepared tosit rather than accept a bad deal. That could be the outcome, asdamaging as it seems, without a big change in a short amount oftime. "I haven't talked to all 400-plus guys, but the guys that Ihave talked to are all on the same page. While it would bedevastating for fans and everything like that, right now we'redealing with some serious business," Detroit's Ben Gordon said."One thing Derek said is we have to stand for something. It's notonly today we're playing for ? it's also tomorrow, for the guys whoaren't in the league yet." I know oversees has a lot of stuff hasn't been brought here yet," said Moss, who went to Galea after knee surgery. "When you are a professional athlete and you get paid the money that you get paid, it's up to you how you spend the money. You want to make sure you're right, and you want to show your team you're worth the money that they give you. You want to be fixed up and show you're always valuable and always ready to go, and your team shouldn't doubt you for that."Stem cell therapy is the just the latest in a line of treatments athletes have sought overseas. Detroit Tigers right fielder Magglio Ordonez went to Austria in 2004 to have shockwave therapy performed on his knee. Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant had platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy — where blood is taken from the patient, spun in a centrifuge, and the mix of plasma cells and growth factors are injected into the injured area — on his injured right knee in Germany over the summer. (Doctors in the US are also allowed to perform PRP therapy.) Besides Manning and Owens, New York Yankees pitcher Bartolo Colon also underwent stem-cell treatments on his ailing shoulder in 2010.In Major League Baseball, a player cannot get treatment for a work-related injury without the club's consent, league spokesman Pat Courtney said. Colon, however, was a free agent at the time, so no approval was needed.Manning WatchThe latest developments from Peyton Manning's neck injury:Irsay: Could return in DecemberAdickes: Peyton should retireColts face QB questionsGlazer: Manning opts for painful path"Club physicians won't approve treatments that do not conform to US medical standards," Courtney told FOXSports. "A player is not permitted to obtain a treatment that involves substances prohibited by our drug programs. With free agents, we are not in a position to dictate where they can seek medical care, provided that the treatments do not run afoul of our drug programs."Stem-cell therapy and PRP therapy don't violate the drug policies of any of the major sports in the US, although NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said players should do some research."Players have the right to choose their medical care," Goodell said. "They are going to have to make those decisions. We hope that when they make them they are well-informed as to what effects the treatments they are pursuing have. You have to know who you being treated by and what you are treated with. That's the responsibility of the players if they are going to go outside the system."Stem cells are the "it" rehab path at the moment, and the stem-cell debate — which grew heated a few years back and led to President George W. Bush banning research of new stem-cell lines — has quieted some as sources outside of embryos have been found. The Bush ban was later overturned by President Obama. HURTING GROUNDNicks, bruises and all out injuries. Find out which players might not take the field this week.Still, stem-cell treatments are largely restricted in the US by the Food and Drug Administration. The few trials under way are limited to attempts to treat neurological diseases like ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and to avoid organ rejection in transplant patients. There are no human trials taking place at the moment to treat orthopedic conditions like Manning's surgically repaired neck or Owens' ailing knee."Facilitating the development of innovative therapies to address unmet medical needs is a high priority for the FDA," said Shelly Burgess, spokeswoman for the organization. "Product safety and human-subject protection are the agency's primary concern."Stem cells — which are valued because they can morph into any type of cell once in the body — can be derived several different ways. Manning, for example, had stem cells extracted from his own fat, FOXSports Jay Glazer reported last month.Manning's treatment, which was attempted before he had a third neck surgery, didn't take."There is no secret that we are way behind Europe and some other places when it comes to stem cells," said David Geier, a South Carolina-based orthopedic surgeon and spokesman for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. "But we like to try things, to be quite honest, that have a high likelihood of working. . . . There just haven't been the randomized, double-blind studies that show these treatments work." STING MEIt's the ugly but unavoidable side of football. Take a look at the major injuries of 2011.Anecdotal evidence, however, seems good enough for athletes with the means. Geier said the only thing other than a possible infection at the site of stem-cell injections is money lost over a failed round of stem-cell therapy that can cost thousands of dollars."The biggest risk is that it doesn't work," Geier said.Mark Adickes, a former NFL lineman turned orthopedic surgeon, said he'd like to have stem-cell therapy as an option."I hope some university has the opportunity to set up clinical trials," said Adickes, FOXSports's medical expert. We feel it helps the process for our teams to hear directly from a lot of times their star players, their franchise players, the guys who mean the most to our game,'' Fisher said.Players have been frustrated that owners have shut them out of their plans for expanded revenue sharing. Stern had said the plan couldn't be finalized until the collective bargaining agreement was done, so the league would first know how much it would be paying out to the players. But Stern said the players know everything the league knows and insisted ''that will not be the issue that separates us.'' He has said the plan is for the revenue sharing pot to triple next season from this year's $54 million and added Friday that the goal was to quadruple it by year three. The salary cap remains an obstacle. Players have stressed they will fight any attempt to impose a hard cap system instead of the current soft cap that allows teams to exceed it through the use of certain exceptions.Owners this week relaxed their insistence on the hard cap, instead proposing a system where there would be four levels of the luxury tax, and the more a team spent, the higher that tax. (There is currently a $1 for every $1 over the tax threshold.) But Fisher, without getting into specifics, said that system still wouldn't work for the players.''I think the idea was if you removed the name 'hard cap,' that that would be good enough in itself. But we still believe the mechanisms ... still in just about every sense would be a hard cap for teams,'' he said. ''There would be very few, if any, teams that would be in a position to spend over that particular number, so that's how we feel about it at this point. It doesn't mean that the negotiation is over, but it's definitely not anywhere close to where we'd be able to agree to it.''The division of revenues is the last of what Stern called the ''Big Three'' items. Owners are seeking to reduce the players' guarantee from 57 percent in the previous deal.---Follow Brian Mahoney on Twitter UpdatedOct 1, 2011 6:24 AM ETBefore the idea that Stephen Curry wants to play for theCharlotte Bobcats instead of the Warriors could go completely viralFriday, he squashed it via Twitter. The Warriors' point guard wrote, "If youhave read a certain rumor today, plz don't confuse my love for myfamily as a WISH to play in Charlotte. Curry told Bonnellhe's happy with the Warriors and with the team'sdirection, but playing in his hometown of Charlotte, N.C., would beappealing."Of course I'd like to play here - it's home and I know a lot ofpeople. But that doesn't mean I'm trying to get out of GoldenState," Curry said Thursday in a wide-ranging interview with theObserver. "There's no reason I would not want to play in Charlotte.Maybe the pressure of being around family all the time would affectsome people, but I wouldn't be opposed to any of that."The Observer piece was picked up by NBC, Sporting News,HoopsHype, IamaGM, Warriors World and others.Curry is near Charlotte, at Davidson College, taking threeclasses that will leave him only a thesis paper away from asociology degree. Lack of lockout progress puts 2011-2012 NBA season at risk: A fan’s take
The fate of the NBA season opener as well as the season itself may be at stake this weekend. The NBA and National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) will meet on Friday, Sept. 30 and try to save the Dallas Mavericks-Chicago Bulls season opener scheduled for Nov. 1. The parties have also pledged to continue their talks on Saturday and Sunday if any progress is made in Friday s discussions.Due to the lack of progress that has been made so far during the lockout, the NBA canceled the first week of preseason games last Friday, Sept. 23. In order to save the regular-season opener from that same fate, the NBA and NBPA must make meaningful progress towards a deal this weekend. Earlier this week, the two sides met for consecutive days for just the second time since the owners locked out the players on July 1. During their two-hour meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 27, "concepts and ideas" were thrown around the room. At the conclusion of Wednesday s four-hour negotiation session, NBA Commissioner David Stern strongly suggested that the Mavericks-Bulls season opener was not the only regular-season game in jeopardy this weekend."Either we will make very good progress … or we won t make any progress and then it won t be a question of just starting the season on time, it will be a lot at risk because of the absence of progress," Stern said.NBPA President Derek Fisher(notes) of the Los Angeles Lakers was not as extreme as Stern, but he did acknowledge "that if we can t find a way to get some common ground really, really soon, then the time of starting the regular season at its scheduled date is going to be in jeopardy big-time."Tuesday s and Wednesday s bargaining sessions were limited to just the principal negotiators. Friday s meeting will be a larger one, including the NBA s 11-member Labor Committee, the NBPA s nine-member Executive Committee and other owners and players who choose to attend. With so much at stake and so little time to get it done in the owners and players need to put in a full eight-hour day on Friday. Before the owners and players reconvene their talks Friday, it is likely that the two groups will meet separately with the principals of each side briefing their constituents on the current state of the talks. At this time, the two sides remain far apart but are willing to continue discussing the issues as long there is reason to keep discussing."I can t say that common ground is evident, but our desire to try to get there I think is there," Fisher said. "We still have a great deal of issues to work through, so there won t be any magic that will happen this weekend to just make those things go away, but we have to put the time in."Well, with the season opener and possibly the 2011-2012 NBA season hanging in the balance, they have to put the time in now.If we are to take David Stern at his word, this weekend is the time for the two committees to "see whether they can either have a season or not have a season, and that s what s at risk this weekend."Mark is a lifelong fan of the NBA who has loved the game of basketball ever since his first trip to an NBA arena. Top five Centers in Los Angeles Clippers history: A fan’s take
Qualifiers: The Los Angeles Clippers have more than 40 years of history dating back to their origins as the Buffalo Braves, so players should have at least two seasons with the team. Also, players will be classified under one position even if they played at more than one. For example, while Bob McAdoo played both center and power forward, he will appear on only one list.Bob McAdoo: Hall-of-Fame center Bob McAdoo was a dominant post presence for the early Buffalo Braves of the 1970s. After his 1972-73 Rookie of the Year campaign, McAdoo won three straight scoring titles and led the franchise to its first three playoff appearances. He owns the Clippers single-season records for points (2,831) and blocks (246). McAdoo averaged 28.2 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game over five seasons with the team. He won the 1975 NBA MVP award, went to five All-Star Games and later won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.Swen Nater:Former ABA All-Star Swen Nater spent six years with the Braves and Clippers franchise from 1977 to 1983. Nater was one of the league s most prolific rebounders with the eighth highest rebound per minute rate in NBA history. He posted averages of 13.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 348 games with the Clippers and he won a rebounding title for them in 1979-80 with a franchise record 1,216 boards. Nater totaled 8,980 points and 8,340 rebounds with a .535 field goal percentage in 11 years between the ABA and NBA.Bill Walton:Hall-of-Fame center and legendary hyperbolist Bill Walton played parts of four seasons with the Clippers in the 1980s. After winning both league and Finals MVP awards with the Portland Trail Blazers, Walton suited up for the San Diego and Los Angeles Clippers from 1979 to 1985. Due to chronic lower-body injuries, Walton played just 169 games as a Clipper. He maintained averages of 11.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 2.3 blocks during his tenure, never playing more than 67 games in any season.Elmore Smith:Former shot-blocking terror Elmore Smith manned the middle for the early Buffalo Braves from 1971 to 1973. Smith got his career off to a brilliant start as a First Team All-Rookie with 17.3 points and 15.2 rebounds per game in 1971-72. Though the league didn t count defensive numbers during his years with the Braves, Smith led the NBA in blocks in each of the first two seasons they were tallied. He averaged a double-double for his career along with 2.9 blocks per game, the fifth highest shot-blocking average in NBA history.Chris Kaman(notes):Current All-Star center Chris Kaman has served as the Clippers starting center since 2003-04. Kaman improved markedly over his first few years in the league, peaking in 2007-08 with 15.7 points, 12.7 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game. When healthy, Kaman is a skilled offensive player in both the low and high-post; unfortunately, he has missed 50 games twice in the last three seasons. Through 493 games as a Clipper, he averages 11.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per contest.Sources:Bill Walton, "What a long, strange tip it s been, Swen," ESPN.comLos Angeles Clippers Franchise Index, Basketball-Reference.comMore from this contributor:Los Angeles Clippers top five power forwardsLos Angeles Clippers top five small forwardsLos Angeles Clippers top five shooting guardsLos Angeles Clippers top five point guardsLos Angeles Lakers top five power forwardsNote: This article was written by a Yahoo! contributor. Could Kobe’s Stay in Italy End Before it Begins?
As the NBA Lockout drags out, numerous players have ventured overseas in hopes of continuing their professional basketball careers. The latest NBA player jumping on the foreign bandwagon is Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant(notes). Then again, it might just be wishful thinking. After some negotiations with Italian basketball team Virtus Bologna, the two parties have come to terms on a deal that will have Bryant playing back in Italy where he spent a large chunk of his childhood. The deal will give Bryant $3 million to join the team for the first 40 days of the Italian League season, which begins on October 9. "Deal is done at 95 percent," Virtus Bologna owner Claudio Sabatini said.Apparently, that last five percent is a bigger deal than Sabatini made it out to be.The agreement met a roadblock after Italian basketball league Legabasket rejected the team s proposal to have schedule accommodations that would allow Virtus Bologna to play 10 games against top opponents in big arenas during Bryant s stay. With so much fluctuation, the league still has yet to set their schedules in stone and Sabatini was hoping that they could help him with marketing the addition of Bryant.Virtus Bologna needs those marquee games in order to help pay for Bryant s big deal. Sabatini has made it clear that without those 10 games, the team will not have the funds to support No. 24 s Italian excursion. Unless there s some sort of drastic change in the near future, this deal will fall apart as quickly as it materialized.Bryant was planning to get a work visa and return to Italy in the next week to put the finishing touches on the contract, but this scheduling conflict could throw a wrench into the works. If this deal falls through, this would mark the third time so far this offseason that Bryant s attempts to join a foreign team have failed. Deals to play in Turkey and China have both been unsuccessful and Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarwoski even seemed skeptical when he tweeted that "no agreement is imminent."With the NBA Lockout appearing to have no end in sight, this Bryant-Italy situation needs to find a quick resolution if he hopes to play professional basketball any time soon. Unfortunately, the chances of this situation working out look as promising as the chances of the NBA Lockout coming to a quick and painless ending.Whenever Bryant is involved, we can always expect a whirlwind of updates in a short period of time.
