I'm now wondering if those people who think that all of this is just a publicity stunt so everyone's surprised at E3 when they announce a release date are right.

I was thinking the same. But wouldn't that be kind of misleading/illegal to announce the closing of a company, and then be liek "lolno, we still goin bitchez"?

Yeah, but I think that 3D Realms really did close, but the project was quietly handed off to Apogee or someone else so by the time E3 comes out, it's essentially ready to go.
If that happens, 3D Realms will be responsible for one of the greatest trollings in history.
