| I'm personally not too fond of Pikmin myself, so that's not the greatest of examples for me. But I sort of see your point...but answer me this: Short of HALO, what new franchises have Microsoft and Sony made? |

The only thing I really ask for is just more and better VC games and original software. I suppose Hannah Montana and Spongebob show up on almost every console, but, if possible, they need to counter those sucky games with both first and third party games worth buying. Like 75% of a console's software shouldn't be that kind of crap, IMO. Although I'm a little disappointed with the lack of decent games, I still love Nintendo. I'm just patiently awaiting something for me to actually buy for my Wii. |
Let me point you to a statement I made earlier...
| Metroidmaniac15 wrote: | Another thing I want to address is the accusations about shovelware. Shovelware for a console is actually a good sign for said console. Why? Because these third-parties who develop all these crap games (which have existed pretty much since E.T. for the Atari) are simply looking for the quick, easy buck. Therefore, they develop for either the cheapest and easiest console to work with, the console that has sold the most, or in the Wii's case, both easy and widely distributed.
Shovelware means the console is doing well otherwise and the third-parties are simply cashing in on their good fortune. |
It's not Nintendo's fault and they can't be held responsible or expected to counter what developers put out. I've never held third-party games in high regards because most of them, especially sports games, are usually cheap, crappy, shovelware that I don't want to waste my money on. So you know what? I've always just ignored it. | I don't blame them for that. I hated that bullcrap for the PS2, too, so I'm definitely not trying to single out and blame Nintendo for that. I just want them to make more good games from both Nintendo and third parties so that most of the Wii library isn't consisting of shovelware. That is all. :) ___ Metal Gear Name: Rocket Kitten

Microsoft: Gears, Mass Effect (It's a planned trilogy), Too Human (ALSO a planned trilogy), Viva Pinata, and I believe Lost Planet is getting a sequal. But also Halo, just to be complete.
Sony: Resistance... Resistance. ___

Following in Bio Tick's stead...
MS: Gears 2, Too Human, Fable 2, ME, SC4, Banjo.
Sony: more games from a variety of genres. Some RPGs would be nice, but just more in general. And more developers moving from PS2 to PS3. Sadly, PS2 games are still being made.
Nin10: Anal Crossing: Cunt Farm, Dead Rising Wii, Kirby Wii (tentative title), new Zelda, new Metroid (preferably in Metroidvania format), better online (although it'll nevar, evar happen), and The Conduit.
Seems that MS is all about current series and their successors, while PS3 is starting new serieses and trying to get developers on the PS3 bandwagon, and the Wii is migrating games from their previous platforms (KIRBEH, WHERE ART THOU. I WANT 4 PLAYER KIRBEH ONLIEN.) ___

Gears of War...another shooter with a chainsaw. Somewhat original, but not all that interesting to me.
Mass Effect...yet another RPG. What? This one is set in space? Well, that makes all the difference doesn't it.
Viva Pinata...do I even have to say anything? It's so friggin' stupid! Pinatas? Come on!
Too Human...a D&D game based on Norse gods...who aren't gods? They are actually cybernetic humans? Sounds lame enough to me...
Lost Planet...a mech game...like we didn't have enough of these crapfests floating around already. I've played it...and hated it.
SC4...Soul Calibur 4? Yah, a fighting game where all you do is mash buttons in rapid succession. Fun!?
Banjo-Kazooie...WORSE...EXAMPLE...EVER!!! They take everything that was good and fun and holy about the series...and chucked it out the window. Games sounds horrible now compared to its predecessors. |

You haven't doen much research, so you lose.
ME: It's a Bioware game.
VP: Yes, it sounds utterly retarded. But it's awesome (from what I've heard. I'd never actually buy that shit.)
Too Human: action RPG, which is very far from D&D, NWN style gameplay.
SC4: Parrying FTW.
Banjo Kazooie: THERE'S STILL JEWJOS. ___

I mean, it's great to get new mario sequels, AC games, and I sure do love me some advance wars, but they need to be creating new franchises as well. Look how awesome pikmin is, and that's one of their newest franchises. They sure have the ability, but they just aren't putting out. |
To correct you and be a dick before I go sleepytime.
Animal Crossing is newer than Pikmin (at least stateside)
Pikmin was a launch game. Animal Crossing didn't come out until that following September. ___ .:Real life before in-game:.

You sound just like my Ninty Fanboy friend, not saying your a fanboy though.
Those are all of his arguments. For example, Mass Effect: What do you mean ANOTHER RPG? Most people complain the 360 doesn't have NEARLY enough of them.
Gears, you asked for franchises, I gave you one.
Viva Pinata is a pretty cool game, and your just calling it stupid because its original.
Too Human, also pretty original. You could say its alot like Devil May Cry, which it is, but it has a lot that makes it so much more different.
Lost Planet, mech games were around alot in the 90's, but not so much now. Its kind of fresh.
Soul Caliber I wouldn't include on my list, since its multiplatform, but I'll defend it anyway. You dont Button Mash in SC. You Button Mash, your going to lose. You BUTTON MASH in Street Fighter, not Soul Caliber.
Banjo I also wouldn't include because it was originally a Ninty game. I can't really defend this, since I know nothing about it, and don't want to know anything about it. ___

I haven't done much research? That's the point! Those games you listed aren't even interesting enough to warrent me looking into them...short of Banjo-Kazooie...which ripped my heart out and stomped on it.
Games, new series or old, should attract gamers. Older games tend to do that because they have loyal fans who love those series. These new games which you mentioned, I heard about them, saw a commerical or two, even played one of them, but in the end I wasn't impressed and would rather go play Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, don't even care for the RPG genre much, Smash Brothers, or Mario/Sonic/Megaman/Kirby/old Banjo-Kazooie. |
